Reverend George L. Smith

 

    

     Reverend Smith is a native of Suffolk, Virginia.  He is the son of Edna Roberts and the late Earl H. Roberts.  He is married to the former Ann Whitfield.  They are the parents of one daughter, Gwendolyn Smith Marshall, the father and mother-in-law to Reverend Karl R. Marshall, Sr. and the grandparents of Kiera, Karl Jr. and Kieaundra.

 

     He attended Suffolk Public Schools and graduated from the first class of John F. Kennedy High School.  After graduation, he entered the United States Army where he served three years as a Clerk Typist and Supply Specialist.  He furthered his education by attending Paul D. Camp Community College and Virginia Seminary College, Suffolk Teaching Site where he graduated with honors in 1993.  He retired after 20 years of service from the Norfolk Naval Base as an Accountant Technician for the Defense Finance Accounting Service.

 

     He currently serves as the Associate Minister of First Baptist Church where he is extremely active in the ministry of Christian Education and Spiritual Empowerment.
